Why is InChI important?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

InChI is a key enabler in connecting chemical information together across scientific domains – it is part of the plumbing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It provides a canonical identifier for chemical structures, allowing unambiguous identification and linking across resources. This removes many difficulties in handling databases of chemical compounds – and even more so across domains, where the ambiguities of chemical models and names can lead to misinterpretations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

InChI is part of how chemical data will be made FAIR – so that unique, canonical identifier will be used wherever chemicals are tracked. Through the research process from ideation to discovery, within organisations for knowledge management, and publication in papers, databases and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it can be drawn, we can give it an InChI – that’s our objective. One InChI for every molecule; one molecule for every InChI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
